Terms of Service

1. The Service

Otto AI provides a Chrome extension and supporting web application that assists SAICA trainee accountants in documenting competencies for their LORs. The service uses AI to suggest competency matches and draft evidence based on user-provided work summaries. Otto AI is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with SAICA in any way.

2. Eligibility

By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorised to enter into this agreement.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account with others or allow unauthorised access. Otto AI is not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorised use of your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used in a manner that is fraudulent, abusive, or harmful to others.

4. Subscription & Billing

Access to Otto AI requires a paid subscription. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis at the rate corresponding to your chosen plan — either monthly or annually.

• Monthly plans are billed every 30 days at R69.99/month
• Annual plans are billed once per year at R671.90/year (equivalent to R55.99/month)
• Payments are processed securely via Paystack
• All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and inclusive of applicable taxes

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. You will not receive a reminder before each renewal.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your profile page. Upon cancellation:

• Your access remains active until the end of the current billing period
• You will not be charged again after cancellation
• No partial refunds are issued for unused time within a billing period

If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us within 7 days at pete@ottoai.co.za and we will review your case.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service to generate false, misleading, or fraudulent LOR entries
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the service
• Use the service in any way that violates applicable law or SAICA regulations
• Share or resell access to your account
• Attempt to circumvent any access controls or security measures

7. AI-Generated Content

Otto AI uses artificial intelligence to suggest competency matches and draft evidence text. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies
• You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving all content before submitting it to SAICA or any other body
• Otto AI does not guarantee that generated content will meet SAICA requirements or be accepted by your training employer
• The service is a productivity aid, not a substitute for your own professional judgement

8. Intellectual Property

All rights in the Otto AI service, including the extension, web application, and underlying technology, remain the property of Otto AI. You retain ownership of the content you input. By using the service, you grant Otto AI a limited licence to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Otto AI is not liable for:

• Any inaccuracies in AI-generated content
• Rejection of LOR submissions by SAICA or your training employer
• Loss of data, revenue, or opportunity arising from use of the service
• Service interruptions or downtime

Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid in the 30 days preceding the claim.

10. Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Where possible, we will provide reasonable notice of material changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
